I support businesses to strategically use their expertise and resources to achieve social impact.
Max joined Beyond Philanthropy in summer 2015 and now works with us as Consultant. He specializes in the corporate and corporate foundation sector, supporting clients in the development of CSR strategies, social innovation approaches as well as the design of high-impact programs. For instance, Max has supported a large German technology conglomerate to drive social innovation within the company and use its resources to tackle societal challenges. Also, he worked with one of the largest European holding foundations on the development and design of an impact-driven social investment strategy.
Before joining Beyond Philanthropy, Max gained experience in both the public and private sector. He is Co-Founder and Fellow of NAHhaft, an NGO and think tank aimed at sustainable food production. He also worked for iShare, a national research project focused on the sharing economy and social innovation and for the Corporate Public Policy Department of METRO Group.
Max studied Business Administration at the University of Mannheim and University of Massachusetts in Boston, USA and Public Policy at the Hertie School of Governance in Berlin and IBEI in Barcelona, Spain.
I believe the private sector can substantially contribute to the well-being of society. After one year of social work with street children in Argentina, I learned a lot about social challenges and began studying Business Administration. I remember feeling wrong that corporate activities were detached from social needs. For various reasons, I am convinced that companies can make meaningful change, as they combine knowledge and resources to arrive at innovative solutions.
