Siemens Stiftung

Helping a foundation to rethink its strategy and areas of impact.

Beyond Philanthropy helped the Siemens Stiftung to assess its existing project portfolio through a benchmarking process and designed a foundation strategy with a particular focus on STEM education.

The Siemens Foundation is among the largest German corporate foundations, with capital of about EUR 390m and annual giving exceeding EUR 10 million. The foundation aims to promote sustainable social development, with a focus on access to basic services, high-quality education and an understanding of culture.

The Siemens Stiftung was founded in 2008 with a large endowment from Siemens AG. The foundation required strategic guidance to define its strategy and position as a leading European corporate foundation.

Beyond Philanthropy assessed existing projects and benchmarked leading corporate foundations to identify best practices in the sector and provide a knowledge base for future activities. Drawing on the insights obtained, Beyond Philanthropycollaborated closely with the foundation’s management to develop a refined strategy that refocuses the foundation’s activities and consolidates existing STEM education programmes.

With the help of Beyond Philanthropy, Siemens Stiftung was able to develop and consolidate all of its worldwide activities and pursue a new, more holistic approach.
